Readings

Required Readings

*Data Labs on the Data Art Website
https://www.dataart.ca/labs/us-labs/
(these labs are the indispensable readings for this course)

*Wolfgang Ludwig-Mayerhofer, Internet Guide to SPSS.
http://wlm.userweb.mwn.de/wlmspss.htm
(this is a go-to source for information on using SPSS syntax)

Recommended Readings are often drawn from:

Ylva Almquist et al. (2019). Almquist_Kvart_Brannstroem_SPSS_Apr30.
This online text provides information on using SPSS for many of the statistical techniques used in this course.

Matthew Loveless, (2023). Political Analysis: A Guide to Data and Statistics, Sage.
This is a new textbook covering much of the course material. Students who want a comprehensive textbook may find it useful during the course and beyond. It does not, however, offer information on using SPSS or other statistical software. For your convenience, one copy of the Loveless text has been placed on short term (2-hour) loan at the McHenry Library reserve desk under the call number JA 71.7 L68 2023. A personal copy (in either paper or e-book editions) can be ordered directly from the publisher at:  https://us.sagepub.com/en-us/nam/political-analysis/book277844#resources

A widely used text you might want to consult:

Paul M. Kellstedt and Guy D. Whitten. The Fundamentals of Political Science Research any edition.
This book is perhaps the most widely used text for courses like this one. An early edition of this book is available online
